Lyrical Munchies. Eat 'em up. Or die.
Up close and personal

I like taking pictures of things within close proximity of my face, especially when I'm drinking.

Didn't your English teacher ever tell you "close proximity" was redundant? You'll never learn.

Happy Easter
Sunday, April 16, 2006, 6:25 PM

For a while, when I was little, Easter was my second favorite holiday.

For selfish reasons, of course. My parents would fill huge baskets with candy that would take me weeks to finish and they'd hide the baskets somewhere in the house. Also, and I think this was a tradition that was passed on from my mom's side of the family, my parents would hide about $30 in coins in various nooks and crannies throughout the house.

I didn't especially care about the candy or the money itself (though sometimes there would be a Nintendo game or some other present hidden at the bottom of the basket, and that was always nice. I think that's how I got Excite Bike, actually), I mostly just liked running through the house hunting for these things. I think if someone were to empty out my wallet every Sunday and hide the bills throughout my apartment, I'd still be just as excited, running around in my pajamas pushing whoever was in my way down the stairs. Seriously, that's all I need to be happy in life. Just give me a game to play and a little violence, and life is good.

Today, when I visited my parents' house, my mom gave me a shoebox wrapped in tin foil, filled with all the same candy she has always given us and it was still nice, despite that there was no hunt required to get it. Yeah, the tin foil thing was a little strange, but I know it amused her greatly.

It's weird to think how certain holidays become more or less important or special as we grow up. These days, I don't think Easter would be on my top 5. But in another 10 years, who knows, it's probable that it will become one of my favorites once again.

Happy Easter, folks!

Wack-a-mole
Tuesday, April 11, 2006, 5:55 PM

Yeah, I suppose I've been a little busy lately. Work has been driving me into the ground and will continue to do so until we hire another copywriter. And when work is over at the end of the day, I basically go home and make millions of dollars with a few clicks of my computer mouse. Work from home! Sign up now, now, now!

Kidding. But I might as well be doing that, considering how much I've been thinking about work when I'm not actually there.

And you know what I just realized? I'm talking about work. And that is probably the most boring thing I could write about at the moment.

I went to Sara's place this weekend, stayed for a little less than 48 hours, then made the long, depressing drive back to Pennsylvania. It was a great weekend though. We managed to watch not 3 ... not 4 ... but 5 horror movies while I was there, including Slither, which is good fun, but you should probably wait till it comes out on video. Wait, "out on video?" Do people still say that?

We also mixed some Vodka and Orange soda, bought some sushi at the grocery store, and in general acted like total idiots the whole weekend. And by "we," I mean I.

In other news, I got a new cell phone. That's exciting, right? It's only like the third one I've bought in three years or something ridiculous like that.

Today is my dad's birthday. Be sure to send him a card.

Oh, hey, it's baseball season! And the Phillies suck. They're 1-6 already, though they did this to me last year and almost made the Wild Card. So, I guess they might just need to get warmed up or something.

Okay, I'm puking my thoughts on here again. I should eat my dinner. Go Phils.
