Six Minutes I never really used to understand my dad when he'd say, "The day's shot," at only two in the afternoon. After all, if it were summer, it's likely I would have just rolled out of bed only a couple hours earlier. This morning, with about six minutes of free time before I had to leave my apartment to catch the train to work, I thought to myself, "I can't do anything in six minutes. What the hell can someone do in six minutes?" And yet, I seemed to remember a time when six minutes was a decent amount of time for something. If you had told me when I was seven years old that I didn't have to leave for the dentist for another six minutes, I would have immediately dumped a box of toys on the middle of the living room floor. Now, accomplishing anything during that time is like saying, "Hey, get this done before I snap my finger. AH! Too late. Time's up." I imagine in a few years that six minutes will be something like a half hour. And when I'm in my 50s? Yeah, there's really no way I'm going to be able to accomplish anything within the short window of about 5-6 hours. It totally makes sense now.  New Stuff Coming soon, I promise. |
